Life Testimony of Doug Waite
I was Baptized in the Holy Spirit (listen to my sermon) right after accepting Jesus as my savior in the spring of 1971. I went to an Episcopal Conference on the Holy Spirit in the Cascade Mountains soon after that. There was a man there who had a ministry in healing. There was also a Blue Grass Jesus Band called Heavenly Hills Brothers. They were all young Christian men who played awesome Blue Grass Christian music. One of them had an eye that was all cloudy. I was sitting in the front row and watched this young man have his eye prayed for by the man who had the healing ministry. He laid hands on the young man and prayed for his eye to be healed in Jesus name. As I stared at his cloudy eye, it became clear and beautiful like his other one. I thought I was seeing things. I had never seen a miracle before. That was the beginning of my experience with the healing ministry of Jesus that has spanned over four decades.
A couple of years later, I was the Youth Director of a church in Lakewood, WA. We had Dennis Bennett, one of the leaders in the Charismatic Renewal at that time, speak on the Baptism and Gifts of the Holy Spirit. Many people were Baptized in the Holy Spirit that weekend including my wife Gail. My entire Junior High Youth Group was Baptized in the Holy Spirit. They started praying for themselves and their pets to be healed and seeing miracles. One of our members was a nurse and asked me to pray for a young man at the hospital who was in a coma from a motorcycle accident. I anointed him with oil and laid hands on him asking Jesus to heal him in Jesus name. He died shortly after that. That was my first experience praying for someone for healing with faith, not a great way to start and it took me awhile before i did it again. .
I went to seminary after that and was appointed to a small country church in northwest Washington State the spring of 1978 as their new young pastor. This church started with 30 people and my daughter as the only child and in three years we had over 300 people including 100 children. I preached on the Gifts and Power of the Holy Spirit (another sermon) and started praying for healing at Communion. We experienced many healings and some deliverance over the next six years.
In 1984 I became a U.S. Navy Chaplain where I traveled all over the world for the next 28 years. Two of my tours were in Navy Hospitals in Japan and Spain. In Japan I had Communion services every Sunday on the patient ward and prayed for healing. The nurses started wheeling the patients with all their tubes to these services. Many were healed. In Spain I would get to the hospital early and pray for all the patients who were preparing for operations that day. Few turned me down. Many were healed. I also looked for opportunities to pray for healing in all my assignments on the east and west coast including two aircraft carriers and two deployments in combat zones. I would preach on healing and pray for healing periodically.
In 2004 one of my daughters, we have five children in five states and seven grandchildren, came down with a rare eye disease that took most of her vision in one eye and then most of her vision in the other. I heard about Christian Healing Ministries in Jacksonville, FL, www.christianhealingmin.org, run by Francis and Judith MacNutt. I had known of Francis through his book Healing for many years. I attended their conference on Emerging Leaders in Healing and took my daughter with me. There I met Mike Evans who also has an amazing ministry in healing, www.wholeness.org.. My daughter had no change in her sight but much healing within.
Due to a man I met at work as a Navy Chaplain who was being demonized by a powerful enemy spirit and wanted to be set free, I started attending the week long conferences on healing at Christian Healing Ministries. I took my daughter to a couple of them. At one I was able to have Francis MacNutt pray for her but no change in her sight.
In 2012 I retired from the Navy and became a pastor again of a civilian church in Washington State. In my first year I asked Mike Evans to come and do a Conference on Healing. He did and we saw many miracles and started a Healing Team that would pray for healing at Communion and after every service. Many people were healed. I also became familiar with Dr. Charles Kraft and his amazing ministry of healing and deliverance, www.heartssetfree.org. Both of these ministries and the MacNutt's have had a powerful influence on me and my ministry.
I have now felt led to retire and had the opportunity to pick up this website from my brother in Christ Hal Weeks who went home to Jesus. I am not sure where retirement and this site will take me. I was asked to go to Honduras by Art for Humanity, www.artforhumanity.org, to teach on healing. You can read about my experience there below. Honduras: Healing Conference
I was blessed to be asked to lead a conference on healing in Honduras for www.artforhumanity.org headed by an old friend and Pastor Glen Evans. Glen was my pastor in DC during 9 11. He retired and started this ministry . He bought about 200 acres and started a school for poor Honduran young women to help them get out of poverty and start their own businesses. All the teachers are from Western countries and are volunteers.
A friend in the healing ministry named Mike Evans, www.wholeness.org, let me copy five chapters of his book “Learning to do What Jesus Did” for the women. All the women must speak English in the school, have a high school education and cannot be married or pregnant.
I began like Mike does by asking if anyone had any pain. One girl said her sister did who had recently had an appendectomy. I asked her with a translator, she was new to the school, if I could pray for her. She said yes. She said her pain was in her abdomen area since the surgery. I asked her to put her hand there and if I could put my hand over hers. She said yes and I called on the Holy Spirit to come and show me how to pray for her. I sensed he wanted me to just pray for healing. With my eyes open I prayed a simple prayer asking Jesus to heal her pain. As I prayed I saw tears streaming down her face. I asked her how she felt. She said that the pain was gone. I asked the girls if they had ever seen a miracle before. They said no. I said, now you have. They clapped for Jesus.
I asked if there was anyone else. They said one young woman was still in her room unable to come because of a toothache. I asked them to go and get her. She came, her name was Angela. She was crying from the pain she had for three days. I asked if we could pray for her and if I could put my hand on her jaw where they pain was. She said yes. I once again invited the Holy Spirit to come and show me how to pray. I sensed him say to pray for the pain to go. I did and then asked her how she was feeling. She said that the pain stopped. We all thanked God and gave Jesus another round of applause. Angela was hugging me by then very happy and stayed the rest of the day.
This is how the conference began. Needless to say, the interest of the girls was very strong. I taught them three chapters of Mike’s book and tried to get them to think about forming Prayer Teams of two or three to pray for themselves and others at the school. I prayed for many other students and leaders those two days and saw Jesus do something every time. The faith of these women was so simple and undistracted that they immediately experienced the power of God. Those of us in the western developed countries could learn much from them.
Thank you Jesus! Many of the new students need sponsors to go to college. Sponsorship would cost $120 a month to send a poor Honduran woman through college and change a nation. To help go to www.artforhumanity.org.

Testimony From a Med Student
In Med School I admitted an elderly lady with pneumonia and severe sepsis. She was very sick, likely going to die within 48 hours. Her cousin is very close to her and was very distraught about the situation when I talked to her. The cousin had 2 church friends with her and talked about the amazing missionary work my patient had done in her life. After I got done interviewing the cousin, I offered to lay hands on the patient and pray for her. The cousin was just so grateful. We all went and laid hands on my patient as I led the prayer. Praise God, she made a huge turn around! Next day she was talking and using minimal oxygen. She was off meds to keep up her blood pressure. What a miracle! I'm beyond grateful God let me have this family come into their lives like that!
